Love & Exercise.

Hi Students,

I thought you all might like to hear what has been going on with me lately.
As usual, I have been working out daily both with weights and  in the pool.
Last month, I shot a pledge video drive for PBS and it has been circulated around the country raising thousands for public television.  It was quite a bit of work because I actually updated a new book as a compilation from others I
have written  in the past. In addition to some black and white shows, I also released three of my remastered color shows, which I have never done, to go with this package. Watch for it on your local PBS station.  If you would like to pledge to PBS and get this custom package, call 1-800-278-5050. The pledge is $150.00 and all the money goes to support public broadcasting.  It is also entirely tax deductible. Later this summer, Elaine and I will be  filming our next juicer infomercial with a very special guest star so be sure to keep your eyes open for it because it looks like a lot of fun when we will reveal our latest juicer.  I am also currently doing radio interviews on various stations across the country.

Love and Exercise,

Jack LaLanne

Always great to hear from you Jack! Look forward to seeing your next infommercial. Great to hear about the new videos too, color my world!
    Your fan for life,
    Terry

    Jack,

It is greatb to read you are still using the “magic wands,” as Vince Gironda called them.

I have been wondering if weights is something to continue as I age. Obviously, in order to have a Lalanne physique at age 95, that is the way to go!

    Thanks

I watched the PBS and did some of the exercises with you! When I was a kid, my Mom watched your show everyday and did the exercises. It was so much fun to watch you on PBS this morning. I love your exercises because I can do them! I used to help at a health spa and would lead the aerobics classes sometimes. As I got older, I gained weight and had foot and ankle problems and have gotten even more out of shape. I’ve recently bought “The Wave” and tried some of the exercises with it. The trainers do the exercises so fast that i’m not even into position and they are already moving on to the next routine! It’s a waste of money! That’s why I decided to order your “Forever Young” dvd. I can do your exercises! Thank God! I was about ready to give up on exercising again. God bless you for giving this back to me. Your exercises are the basic muscle workers that will work for all times and all ages!

Do you still have white dogs? I think they are German Shepherds? When my Mom watched your show, I always would watch so that I could see your dogs!

Thanks again! Long life and God bless!

I wanted to add a comment to my comment. “The Wave” may be good for some people. I didn’t mean to say that it would be a waste of money for everyone, if it gets a person off their rears, I guess it’s worth money, but for me, it was a waste of money, because I won’t use it like I should now, because its too fast paced for my shape and condition.

  5. Sheila says:

Thanks Jack! You are such an iconic figure! I remember watching your original black-and-white TV shows with my mom, back in the ’50′s. Just watched one on “Jack TV” and they are still inspiring. *HUGS*

    –Your fan Sheila

  6. Geena says:

I had never heard of you before (not in the UK) You are a total inspiration.Your b and w exercise videos on You Tube are just brilliant. Love them. Hope you go on for years.
If you were a Brit, they would make you a Lord!

  7. Ruth says:

Hi Jack! I admire you and Elaine so much! I’m watching you two on PBS right now. Elaine has better legs than I do! I love it-not jealous at all! You’re both an inspiration.
I’m 35. I used to do ballet but stopped a lot of it when I was in my early 20′s-I was on pointe and very strong physically and 130lbs-but I started working full time and lost the drive to do it often.

I’ve been doing step aerobics for the past two years. I do step for a half hour vigorously-about 15 minutes of 10lb hand weights before that with stretching before and after with splits. I haven’t been able to lose weight though. I’m 5’7 and am sticking at 175lbs. I have low thyroid and take a natural supplement for it (not armour). My (natural chiropratic) doctor thinks I’m not losing weight because of that but don’t want that to hold me back. I’ve been around 175lbs for the past 3 years when the trouble started basically..and have been having a lot of trouble gaining strength also. I work out 3-4 times like this a week. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks to you and Elaine for your energy and love of life:)
    love,
    Ruth

    Hi Jack,

Question; do dumbbells ever go bad?
I put in a lot of hours at my job where I am mostly sitting, so I don’t get a lot of exercise. Additionally, I don’t have any room in my house for much equipment, so I bought a single pare of 35 lb dumbbells. I have been doing very brief exercises with them each morning. I’ve only had them for a couple months and now they hardly weigh anything. Exercising with them is now a fraction of the effort as when they were new. Is it common for dumbbells to lose weight with use?

Ok, yes I’m kidding! My sillyitus is acting up again!

    Your very proud fan,

    Ken

Was channel surfing and came across your PBS “commercial”. We should all be so lucky to NOT look our age as youa dn Elaine. Elaine – I met you years ago when you were playing Team Play at SLO. Myhusband and I have also “ran” in to you at several Morro Bay resteraunts. Both of you cordial as ever. Jack you knew my husbands relatives from the “old” days – Bob Varner. It is great to “see” both of you and your active ways inspire us all.

  10. Mike Reynolds says:

Dear Jack, When I was in Jr and Sr High School(I’m now 60), during summer vacations, my Mom would make a “work”
schedule for my brother and I.
On that schedule, every Monday through Friday morning,
she would have me in front of the television exercising with you! ; – )
Between the Army, and other things in life, I did OK until about 20 years ago—-I just let my self go…….
My top weight 255+ pounds and my waist 54″+.
TWO WEEKS AGO I recieved your special pack of Volumes 1-4.
I have lost 5 ” and 15 lbs, and have enjoyed my time with yyou each morning and feel good afterwards!
I also have your Juicer and Cookbook on their way!
Thank you, Jack and God Bless you!
    Welcome back into my Family!

    Love Always, Your Friend,
    Mike

  11. Tommy says:

I am glad to hear you are doing well. I remember watching your show as a kid. I am 53 years old and have been training seriously for the last 30 years. Prior to that I was working out but only on and off since I was going through some “life troubles.” But the last 30 years has been good eating habits and vigorous exercise. My health has been great and so has my weight…always. However, this past October 2009 I suffered a heart attack something unavoidable due to family genetics. But the doctors said that what saved me was my conditioning and fitness from my diet and exercise. Diet and exercise is the true miracle drug. Another benefit of my prior fitness and health is that within 4 months I was already running ten flights of stairs while holding a weight. I am back training just as hard as I was before and back on track to see my 100 year old birthday. While working out today and hitting that proverbial wall, my thoughts went to you still working out at your age and that gave me the extra push I needed. You are my inspiration. Live long brother. And thank you. I’ll never give up. “Seven Times down, eight times up.”

    Ruth,
In as much as your Chiropractor thought your condition could be your Thyroid, the LaLanne’s suggest you see an Endocrinologist about your condition.

    Thanks,
    Healthfully,

  19. Alan says:

Jack, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for being a steward of the healthy lifestyle for so many years. I really enjoy your older tv show and the excersises are accessable to anyone and they really do work. I had herniated disc surgery and the recovery was long and difficult, but doing your workouts and staying on top of what I eat have brought me back better than ever. You will always be cherished for your gentle, noble ways and you are a kind soul who really has made a difference to so many peoples lives. God bless you!

  20. Dee Dee Wike says:

My 11-year-old daughter and I received a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer as a gift yesterday (can you say “Christmas in July?”) from a cousin. This is something Joy had wanted since watching your infomercial several months ago, but something I could not buy for her. After soliciting personal testimonials from Facebook friends, we were thrilled to be offered this as a gift and upon picking it up yesterday made orange juice popsicles.

I was younger than Joy when your first tv show aired years ago and fondly remember pulling in a kitchen chair and excersizing with you. How fun to be able to watch that first clip with her on your website and as an almost fifty-year-old learn new things about you that I was too young to know then! In a way, I feel like I’ve reconnected with an old friend. Thanks for all you have contributed to health and fitness. The story of your addiction to sugar and junk foods as a youth and the transformation and life’s work that have revolutionized health and fitness in America encourage me as the mother of a junk-food loving teen. You have proven there is hope for us all!

The first part of May I fractured my kneecap and was pretty much completely immobile for 5+ weeks. After it healed and I started therapy, I discovered that the first episode you have on your site had much of the exercises I was doing with my therapist. So, I began doing them with you most days. You are so inspiring and I love that you explain which parts of the body are helped by the various exercises. BTW, bought two of your DVDs – Forever Young and the one with the chair exercises. You are helping to keep me moving and improving, plus your positive thinking is contagious. Jack, God blessed lots of people when he made you and your wife. You truly save lives. Keep up the good work.

  22. Rosie Katen says:

    Hi Jack,
It’s awesome how well you are in your age. I am 59 years young, and I have bought your juicer, because I want to do something for my health before I get too old and in pain. I can’t find my manual, and tried to open up the juicer to disassemble, but I dont know how to do it. Can you help me, please? I won’t be using it until I know what to do.Thank you very much.
