Thank you everybody!

Hello Students,

I’m improving daily and want you to know that I haven’t stopped thinking about you. My original television show has gone back on the air in several eastern markets and will be broadcast on Direct TV all over the Northern Hemisphere very soon. Thank you all for your continuing well wishes and be sure to watch me when my Original Show hits your market.  Remember to always keep up your workouts and watch that diet!  Please keep checking my blog for further updates.

  1. Jack,

You’re a hero in many people’s hearts and; if hero is sometimes overused because I’m sure you’d agree, our military members, first responders, and civilians who rush forward to help others while putting themselves in danger most deserve that term; you’re a mentor to people’s lives.

I have no doubts you’ve saved many a life with your demonstratable committment to passionate health and exercise, and you’ve improved scores more times that number.

Now I’m gonna work on me. Get well soon

  2. Lisa says:

    Dear Mr. Lalanne,
Thank you for sharing your life with us. We also reside in SLO county and are interested in your juicer. My husband and I are wondering if there is a store where we can see the product before the purchase. We both have health problems and I have been diagnosed with a low immune system and anemia. I was told to juice celery, ginger, strawberries (can’t wait for the festivals!) and wheat grass to improve this problem. I would be so grateful for any information you can offer. Thank you for ypur time.

  3. John Carroll says:

It’s nice to see that you are improving Jack. That is certainly welcome news, also that your original show is returning. I have ordered a DVD set of same.
I would like to ask your opinion about avoiding the meat and dairy products being offered to the public today. There appear to be differing opinions regarding this subject. Your opinion is certainly welcome and respected.
    All the very best,
    John

We haven’t stopped thinking or praying for you and your loved ones, and are glad you are improving. Your optimism is inspiring and is as evident today as it was in your original TV broadcasts. I just finished your latest book “Live Young Forever” and give it two thumbs up with the wonderful pictures and relevant diet and exercise content. Hope to see you after the Olympics on Jay Leno or the talk show circuit. God Bless!

    Dear John,
Jack believes in non-fat milk and soy milk. Jack himself does not eat meat, but he believes if one chooses to do so, they should stick with lean cuts.
    Thanks for your letter,
    Colleen

  17. Colleen says:

Jack has helped so many, and he loves to hear that he is helping more. We’re glad to know you are going to work on yourself. As Jack himself would say, “Take care of the most important person in the world: YOU!!!”

  18. Cory says:

Jack I am a big fan, and I am trying to equal your feat of 1000 pushups in 20 minute, first try I did not make 500. I read somewhere you used beef liver tablets when you trained hard. Is that true and if so how, how many, how long?

  19. bruce says:

Good luck and God bless. You are an inspiration.

  20. Jennifer says:

Thank you for such a wonderful juicer. I am enjoying fresh veg juice blends, fruit juices and making recipes using the fiber pulp from both. I am getting a lot of enjoyment from my power juicer and my kids are trying some of my experimental drinks. I hope you feel better soon, as I did not know you are under the weather. I have always enjoyed your show, I watched it growing up and it is enjoyable today. Thanks for inspiring me in more ways than you will ever know.

  21. Jack, you are in our prayers, get well soon! We miss you buddy and we can’t wait to see you at our show this year! Best regards,
    Your friends at Physique Bodyware

  22. Larry L says:

Dear Jack. I wish you a speedy recovery. I have recently begun eating right and have lost 60 lbs. I have just purchased your new book two days ago and have read about 85% of it already! You are truly someone who practices what you preach and are truly an inspiration to all. God Bless you sir! On my way to better health, Larry.

  23. Mary B. says:

    Dear Jack:

It is wonderful to hear you are recovering nicely. I used to watch you on KQED in San Francisco back in the mid-1960′s when I was a little girl. It was always so fun to watch you. Now, many decades later, you are an inspiring prophet and hero to us all. Wishing you a speedy recovery. *Mary*

  24. Laura says:

Jack you are a part of my best memories. I was born the year after you started your show. I can’t remember a single day growing up that your show wasn’t on in our home.
The enthusiasm combined with your warmth and wit continue to this day to make me smile and give me a feeling of hope.
I’m in my fifties now, and how I wish I’d followed your way of nutrition all my life. I have hyperglycemia and I’m really out of shape. I just ordered the Forever Young video. I’m going to begin again, God bless you Jack LaLanne.

  25. Jill says:

Jack, I hope you are doing well. You have been a big influence in my life, and I appreciate you so much! I exercised with you at 5, in 1965, and my husband and I have been exercising with you since 2004. I found you on ESPN Classics, then ordered DVDs. Would love another set, if you ever put any new ones out! Thank you, and God Bless You and Your Family!

  26. Bob Chavez says:

Glad to hear Jack is ‘up an runnin’ on schedule!! A hearty second that notion to all the previous comments!! Looking forward to seeing him soon on the ‘TV circuit’.

Alright, Bob! Thanks for checking in.
    Colleen

  28. Colleen says:

    Dear Laura,
Thanks for your letter. Good for you for starting to exercise again! Like Jack says… “It’s not too late to get in shape!” and “Anything in life is possible if you make it happen.”
Check out Jack on Direct TV on Telos.

Jack thanks you, Larry, for your kind words and well-wishes.

  30. Colleen says:

Keep up your juicing, Jennifer. Thanks for writing in!

  31. Colleen says:

    Cory,
Actually, Jack did 1,033 push-ups in 23 minutes on national television during the Art Baker You Asked For It Show. Yes, in those days, Jack took dessicated liver tablets as part of his vitamin regimen. He was always at the forefront of the vitamin industry all through the 1950′s and 60′s. As time went by, vitamins became more and more refined and even Jack’s vitamins, at the time, were quite a bit better than what he took in the early 1960′s. Jack still believes in a vitamin regimen which is dictated by many factors. So it is difficult to describe an individual vitamin regimen without very detailed observation of one’s exercise regimen. Therefore, it is Jack’s opinion that you consult with a medical professional to determine what is best for your individual workout routine. Jack always advocates that vitamins should be from natural sources in their natural states without any artificial ingredients or chemicals of any kind.

Glad to hear you are doing so well after your surgery. Do you remember your Berkeley High School days? My dad, Les Wigginton, remembers you walking on your hands up and down the halls. He turns 95 next month and is doing great.

  33. Jack, my wishes for your continued recovery. I am a 47 year old physician who also admires Jack and I vividly remember watching and doing the exercises when I watched Jack in black and white. Those were sick days from school, and Jack would tell us to exercise some everyday and I tried even if sick. I will be attempting 1000 pushups in one hour (easy for Jack) as a fundrasier for the Arthritis Foundation in Fresno on April 10. I am up to 600 in training and have the pace for 20 a minute with rest in between the sets. Any advice to offer a novice at such events?

  34. Ed says:

    Jack,
I recently purchased your book Live Young Forever. I am praying for you to experience a full recovery, as I know you will. I think of your situation this way: After reading of your father’s unfortunate passing at such a young age of heart complications, just think how your lifestyle staved off what may be a genetic predisposition? Sure, lifestyle probably played a part with your father, but something can be said for your own commitment to physical fitness. Your lifestyle postponed any complications you may have in your genetics for a good 45 years, and now after your surgery, that same lifestyle will hopefully give you another 45+ years!

I am 38 years old, and began my life inspired by the popular fitness icons of my youth such as Lou Ferrigno, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. I was always involved in athletics and fitness as a youth, but began working out with weights and running on the boy’s and girl’s club track team significantly in junior high school. Unfortunately, family problems (divorce) and rebellion caused me to stray away from a healthy lifestyle when I reached the 10th grade, but I got back to weight training again in college, obtaining a competitive-level physique. I have always remained active with some form of exercising, but over the years, as my knowledge of nutrition has improved, I have realized that much of what we thought was OK to eat in the United States is not.

With family, job, graduate school the usual host of stress and commitments many of us have, I again strayed away from fitness and a good diet over the past few years, eating bad foods, drinking and gaining weight and waistline. Finally, last June 30th, 2009, I made a commitment to a new lifestyle. I immediately gave up sugary/fatty foods, began exercising regularly and started my search for inspiration. I came across several health professionals, but there was something about your story, personality and attitude toward life that truly inspired me. My parent’s generation knew you well, but I didn’t know enough. I read all I could about you and radically changed my diet, living by your motto, “If man makes it, don’t eat it.” I follow your rule to eat everything in its natural state, and start with what God makes for us naturally. Though it shouldn’t be surprising, these changes in lifestyle have made a huge significance in my life. No more fat belly or tiredness throughout the day. I feel energetic and full of life and am trying to pass this on to everyone I know.

Thank you, Jack, from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done, are doing and will do for fitness and your “Students!”

    Thanks,

  40. Claire says:

    Hi Alan,
Training for endurance is the key to any athletic event. When Jack trained to break the record for pushups on national television. He spent many hours working through the pain and kept his mind set on the goal, and he was able to accomplish his task on the Art Baker, You Asked For it National Television Show for doing 1,033 push ups in 23 minutes.

Good Luck, and remember, “Anything in Life is Possible, if YOU Make it Happen!”

    Thanks,
    Claire

  41. Claire says:

  42. Linda says:

OMG~I have directv and would LOVE to see your shows!!! I live in the Dallas area and haven’t seen them in years except on the internet. I am SO excited!! I’ll definitely watch & exercise along with you!

  43. They just don’t make ‘em like you any more, Jack. I am so glad that you are still doing your thing, and hope that you will be around for a long time, encouraging us the way you do. I wish much health, longevity, prosperity, and happiness to you and your lovely wife, Elaine.

I met you briefly back in the 1970′s. I was just a teenager, and I worked for Rheo Blair at the time. I was so enthusiastic about fitness and nutrition. You looked me straight in the eye, listened, then and gave me words of wisdom and encouragement that I still carry with me to this day.

Thank you for being, caring, and having such a profoundly positive effect on so many lives.

    Jared.

  44. Colleen says:

    Dear Jared,
Jack and Elaine thank you for your kind words. Keep up your enthusiasm for fitness and nutrition!
    Healthfully,
    Colleen

  45. Cassandra Jahn says:

    Dear Jack Lalanne,
I just wanted you to know that you are inspiring another generation. I am eight-teen years old. When I started talking about health and fitness my parents told me about you. I have been doing the trimnastics from the videos on your web site for the past three weeks among other exercise. Most of the health info I find in newer books say the same thing you said on your show years before. After just a few short weeks of following your diet advice and exercises I feel and look better.

    Thank You Jack.

    Your Student,
    Cassy

  46. Eugenia Marvin says:

I saw you being interviewed a few years ago and you were a great help to me. I often think, “what would Jack do” when unhealthy food is brought to my place of work. It helps me pass it by and stay on my diet. I remember you saying, “if it tasts good, spit it out.” It made me laugh at the time but it has stuck with me and helped me in many situations. I look forward to seeing your show and will be watching for it. I plan to also order your book. I used to watch your show as a child with my grandmother and we would exercise along with you. Very happy memories. You are a real inspiration to me.

  47. Mary Grant says:

    Jack,
Thanks for being such an inspiration for me when I was a young child. Watched you faithfully. You were a true role model and still are…a pioneer. You lead the way for a healthy lifestyle and exercise…one I still try to live today and have passed on to my daughter, Kate.
Thanks Jack, you’re the best. You inspired me during a very difficult childhood.
    Mary Grant

  48. Claire says:

    Mary,
Thank you for taking the time to write your nice comment to Jack. He was honored to hear your nice story. Keep up the good work!
    Healthfully,
    BeFit Enterprises

  49. Adam Clawson says:

    Jack,

Thank you for everything you have done to spread your knowledge, appreciation, and love of exercise and living healthy. I am 26 and a personal trainer and you are my inspiration. I have been active my whole life, and plan to continue doing so until they put me in the ground. I have broadened my approach to fitness over the last couple years, and I feel like I am just starting to get past the tip of the iceberg. You inspired me to start swimming for exercise. After I watch your videos I feel determined to make a difference in the world, just like you continue to do every day. I understand you live in California. I am living in Virginia now, but I’m going to be in San Diego, CA for the week of July 4th. I would be honored to meet you. I would probably not know what to say though. Exercise and helping others are my passions, and I hope I can help people to change their lives. Thank you for everything, I hope you’re doing well these days.
